John Baker is a long-time educator and school leader with decades of experience in classroom teaching and school administration. His experience in school leadership includes History Department Chair at Virginia Episcopal School in Lynchburg, Virginia, Academic Dean at Chesapeake Academy in Irvington, Virginia, and Assistant Superintendent for Academics at Fishburne Military School in Waynesboro, Virginia. Additionally, John has worked in senior leadership positions with Duke University’s Talent Identification Program (TIP), Johns Hopkins University’s Center for Talented Youth (CTY), and Summer Institute for the Gifted (SIG) programs at Yale University and Boston University.

In these roles, John saw the role proper data analysis and statistical modeling can play in helping school leadership make the best decision for their schools, and has advised schools on matters relating to enrollment, retention, student academic performance, faculty and staff compensation and retention, and fiscal sustainability.

He holds a Doctor of Education degree in Administration and Leadership from the University of Virginia’s School of Education, a Master of Arts degree in School Leadership from the Klingenstein Center at Teachers College, Columbia University, and a Bachelors of Arts degree in American Studies from Kenyon College. He is currently completing his Master of Science degree in Data Science from the University of Virginia.

He lives in Boston with his family and their Bloodhound mix, Penelope.
